China has officially announced its support for Pakistan regarding the recent Pahalgam incident in Indian-administered Kashmir. In a statement issued by the Chinese Foreign Minister, it was emphasized that China fully understands Pakistan’s legitimate security concerns and supports its efforts to protect its sovereignty and security.
The Chinese Foreign Minister also reiterated China’s backing for a fair and timely investigation into the tragic incident that occurred in Pahalgam. Furthermore, China urged both Pakistan and India to exercise restraint and engage in dialogue to resolve their differences peacefully.
The incident, which took place four days ago in Pahalgam, led to the deaths of 26 tourists in a shooting attack by armed assailants. India unfairly blamed Pakistan for the attack and took several punitive measures, including suspending the Indus Waters Treaty. In response, Pakistan adopted a robust strategy, halting all trade with India, closing its airspace to Indian airlines, and declaring Indian diplomats “persona non grata,” ordering them to leave the country.
Following the attack, Pakistan offered to facilitate impartial international investigations and pursued effective diplomacy, engaging with foreign ministers globally to brief them on the situation.
