ISLAMABAD(The COW News Digital) Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has indicated that the country may take action in Afghanistan in response to growing terrorist threats originating from across the border. Speaking on a private news channel, Asif expressed serious concerns about cross-border militancy and emphasized Pakistan’s readiness to respond if safe havens for terrorists continue to exist in Afghan territory.

“Pakistan will not ignore the rising incidents of terrorism,” Asif stated. “If the situation regarding terrorist sanctuaries in Afghanistan deteriorates further, Pakistan will respond decisively.” He added that while Afghan Taliban authorities have expressed condemnation or regret, such statements are symbolic and have not translated into tangible action.

According to the Defence Minister, Afghan-based terrorist groups have been responsible for many of the recent attacks on Pakistani soil. “Most of the recent terrorist incidents involve Afghan militants; Pakistan itself has no such safe havens for terrorists,” he clarified. He also praised the Pakistan Army for successfully rescuing cadets during the Wana Cadet College operation, highlighting the operational preparedness of the military.

In addition to Afghanistan, Asif addressed security concerns related to India. He said that India has been pursuing aggressive policies against Pakistan through Afghan territory. “No one should be under any misconception — our neighbor’s hostile intentions have been fully revealed,” he stated.

The Defence Minister stressed that Pakistan remains on high alert regarding India and is prepared to evaluate and counter any potential threats. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to defending its territory and responding to any provocation or cross-border aggression.

Asif’s remarks come amid heightened tensions in the region and follow a series of terrorist attacks that have drawn both domestic and international attention. Security analysts say his statements underscore Pakistan’s focus on both counter-terrorism and strategic vigilance along its borders.

The Defence Ministry has reiterated that Pakistan seeks stability in the region but will act firmly to neutralize threats emanating from Afghan soil, signaling a proactive stance against cross-border terrorism while keeping a close watch on regional geopolitical developments.
