Speaking to The media Botta Singh Deol, one of Dharmendra’s nephews, explained the reasoning behind this decision: “Uncle Dharmendra was my father Manjeet Singh’s cousin. Our family has been looking after his ancestral land for decades. That’s why he decided to hand it over to us.” Botta Singh added that Dharmendra had last visited the village in 2019 when his son Sunny Deol contested the parliamentary elections from Gurdaspur.
Dharmendra, who hailed from the village of Dingo in Punjab, remained deeply connected to his roots throughout his life. Despite moving to Mumbai and achieving stardom, he ensured that his ancestral land, which held sentimental value, was entrusted to family members who had long cared for it.
The actor’s children include Sunny, Bobby, Esha, and Ahana, yet the decision to leave the property to his nephews reflected both emotional and practical considerations. Dharmendra reportedly felt that the nephews, having managed and maintained the land for decades, were best suited to preserve it.
In his final days, Dharmendra faced health challenges and was briefly hospitalized in early November. He was later discharged and spent his remaining days at home with family. Following his passing, numerous Bollywood stars attended his funeral and prayers to pay their respects.
Throughout his life, Dharmendra prioritized family traditions and responsibilities. His decision to pass on the ancestral land to nephews underscores his enduring commitment to family and his deep bond with his roots, despite a long and illustrious career in the entertainment industry.
