TEHRAN(The COW News Digital) Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has said Iran will not surrender and cannot be forced to submit through pressure or threats, amid escalating tensions between Tehran and Washington.
In a statement posted on social media platform X, Pezeshkian questioned the alleged targeting of civilian infrastructure, food supplies and people’s livelihoods, challenging the United States to confront Iran’s military rather than targeting facilities used by civilians.
“If the United States has the courage, it should face the Iranian military,” Pezeshkian said, while questioning why civilian infrastructure and food supplies were being targeted.
The Iranian president also criticised what he described as restrictions on people’s access to essential necessities. He questioned Washington’s commitment to humanitarian principles, asking why civilians would be deprived of access to water, food and medicines.
Pezeshkian maintained that Iran would not be compelled to change its position through economic, political or military pressure. He stressed that threats would not force the Iranian people to abandon their resistance.
The remarks come amid heightened tensions between Iran and the United States, with Tehran continuing to reject what it considers attempts to pressure the country into submission.
Pezeshkian’s comments also focused on the humanitarian consequences of the ongoing confrontation. He argued that civilian populations should not bear the consequences of disputes between governments and military forces.
The Iranian leadership has repeatedly emphasised its refusal to surrender under external pressure, while calling for the protection of essential services and civilian populations.
The latest statement further underscores the increasingly confrontational rhetoric between Tehran and Washington as tensions remain high.
