CHOLPON-ATA (The COW News Digital) Pakistan and Kazakhstan have reaffirmed their shared dedication to expanding bilateral trade, investment, and strategic cooperation during high-level diplomatic discussions held on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) meeting in Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyzstan.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Ishaq Dar, met with his Kazakh counterpart, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Yermek Kosherbayev, to review the progress made in bilateral relations following Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s landmark visit to Pakistan. Both dignitaries expressed firm resolve to execute the agreements reached during that visit, including the implementation of 37 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) spanning key sectors.
During the meeting, both leaders agreed to accelerate collaborative efforts across trade, investment, transport, regional connectivity, energy, culture, and multilateral diplomacy. Foreign Minister Kosherbayev commended Pakistan’s active contributions toward promoting regional peace and stability through diplomacy, reiterating Kazakhstan’s readiness to deepen mutual engagement. Kosherbayev also extended a formal invitation to Dar to undertake an official visit to Kazakhstan.
In a separate bilateral engagement on the sidelines of the summit, Deputy Prime Minister Dar met with the Foreign Minister of Belarus, Maxim Ryzhenkov. The two leaders reviewed ongoing bilateral cooperation and reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening ties across trade, defense, agriculture, technology, and workforce exchanges. They also expressed positive expectations for the upcoming Pakistan-Belarus Joint Ministerial Commission meeting scheduled to take place in Islamabad on August 11–12, 2026.
The series of diplomatic exchanges highlights Pakistan’s broader foreign policy objective of strengthening political and economic integration with Central Asian and Eurasian partners through regional mechanisms like the SCO.
