National ( The cow news digital ) Pakistan Women’s cricket team secured their first victory in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup after defeating the Netherlands by 37 runs in their final group-stage match, ending a difficult run of defeats in the tournament.
Batting first after winning the toss, Pakistan posted a total of 126 for 6 in their allotted 20 overs. The innings got off to a shaky start when opener Muneeba Ali was dismissed for 12 runs, putting early pressure on the batting side.
However, a crucial partnership between Gull Feroza and Ayesha Zafar helped stabilize the innings. The duo added 79 runs for the second wicket, shifting momentum back in Pakistan’s favor. Ayesha Zafar contributed 32 runs before being dismissed, while Feroza carried the innings forward with a composed unbeaten 63 off solid stroke play. Her innings included nine boundaries and proved to be the backbone of Pakistan’s total.
After Zafar’s dismissal, Pakistan’s middle and lower order struggled to maintain momentum. Fatima Sana scored 3 runs, while Eman Javed and Sadaf Jabeen added 5 runs each as wickets continued to fall at regular intervals. Despite the collapse, Feroza’s unbeaten half-century ensured Pakistan reached a competitive total of 126.
In response, the Netherlands batting lineup failed to build sustained partnerships and was bowled out for 89 runs in 18 overs. Captain Babette de Leede was the top scorer for her side with 30 runs, but she lacked support from the other end as Pakistani bowlers maintained consistent pressure.
Pakistan’s bowling attack delivered a disciplined performance, with Fatima Sana and Ayesha Zafar starring by taking three wickets each. Their efforts dismantled the Dutch batting order and sealed Pakistan’s comprehensive victory.
This win marked Pakistan Women’s first success in the tournament after suffering four consecutive defeats earlier in the competition. Although the result did not change their overall standing significantly, it provided a morale boost and ended their campaign on a positive note.
