World ( The cow news digital ) Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG) is facing intense ethical and regulatory scrutiny following reports that it launched a specialized data service providing select Wall Street firms split-second early access to Truth Social posts.
According to reports by the BBC and Financial Times, the service—dubbed “Truth API”—is designed to deliver posts from influential accounts to institutional clients milliseconds before they are published to the general public. While the service reportedly costs up to $100,000 per month, TMTG has not officially confirmed the pricing structure.
High-Frequency Trading and Market Impact
The service aims to cater to high-frequency and algorithmic trading firms, allowing automated systems to execute rapid stock or commodity trades based on breaking posts. Although TMTG has not explicitly confirmed whether Donald Trump’s personal account is included, his posts routinely move global markets. Trump indirectly holds a 41 percent stake in the company via a trust managed by his children.
Ethical Concerns and Regulatory Calls
The initiative has sparked sharp criticism from ethics experts and lawmakers:
- Legal and Ethical Risks: Richard Painter, former chief White House ethics lawyer under President George W. Bush, warned that selling early access to policy-related or market-moving announcements raises severe legal concerns regarding insider trading and conflicts of interest.
- Calls for Investigation: U.S. Senators Elizabeth Warren and Adam Schiff sent a letter to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) demanding an inquiry into the service’s legality and its impact on market fairness.
In response, TMTG rejected the allegations, maintaining that the API merely speeds up the distribution of public information and complies fully with open-market principles.
