Washington (The COW News Digital) The United States has announced the deployment of more than 25,000 drones and counter-drone systems across the Middle East as part of efforts to strengthen the protection of American military personnel against emerging aerial threats.
According to the US Department of War, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) has received a new advanced military system worth $782 million. The package includes sophisticated unmanned aerial and maritime technologies designed to enhance operational capabilities and improve force protection.
The department said more than 24,000 counter-drone systems and over 1,300 attack drones have already been delivered to American forces in the region.
The new equipment is intended to help US troops detect, intercept and counter potential drone attacks, particularly as unmanned aerial threats continue to become a growing concern for military forces operating in the Middle East.
The deployment also includes more than 100 unmanned surface vessels and underwater vehicles, according to the US Department of War. These systems are expected to strengthen American military capabilities in maritime operations and underwater surveillance.
The latest delivery represents a significant investment in modern military technology, with the Pentagon seeking to improve the protection of American personnel and assets against increasingly sophisticated unmanned systems.
Counter-drone technology has become a major priority for military forces worldwide. The widespread use of relatively inexpensive drones in modern conflicts has created new challenges for traditional air defence systems.
The US military has been expanding its capabilities to address these threats, including the development and deployment of systems capable of detecting and neutralising hostile unmanned aircraft.
According to the department, the newly supplied equipment will initially support American forces stationed in the Middle East. Following the regional deployment, similar military equipment is also expected to be provided to US forces operating in Europe and the Pacific.
The announcement highlights Washington’s continued focus on strengthening military readiness and adapting to the changing nature of modern warfare.
The expanded deployment of unmanned aerial, maritime and counter-drone technologies could play an important role in protecting American military installations and personnel amid ongoing regional security challenges.
