National ( The cow news digital ) The Sindh Drug Testing Laboratory has declared nine life-saving oncology medications counterfeit, substandard, and unregistered, raising critical safety concerns over the quality of cancer treatments available in the market.
According to an official laboratory report, several tested cancer drugs lacked the essential Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API) required for therapeutic efficacy. Director of the Sindh Drug Testing Laboratory, Syed Adnan Rizvi, revealed that multiple samples failed regulatory compliance, with several packages lacking mandatory Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) registration numbers.
Rizvi also highlighted problematic prescription practices, noting that certain oncologists explicitly direct patients to specific pharmacies where these compromised products were procured. Authorities warned that using counterfeit oncology drugs severely compromises patient care, allowing disease progression while posing life-threatening risks to vulnerable patients.
