Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has stated that Tehran is open to indirect negotiations with Washington in response to a letter from the U.S. government.
In his statement, Araghchi emphasized that Iran will not engage in talks under pressure and seeks negotiations on equal terms. He reiterated that the U.S. must lift sanctions imposed on Iran, adding that Tehran is fully cooperating with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
According to Iranian media, former U.S. President Donald Trump had sent a letter proposing dialogue, which was delivered to the Iranian government by an Arab envoy. Reports suggest that UAE Presidential Adviser Anwar Gargash personally delivered the message and met with the Iranian foreign minister in Tehran.
Meanwhile, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei remains firm in his stance. Addressing a student delegation, he recalled previous negotiations that led to a signed agreement, which was later discarded. He questioned the value of new talks, asserting that the U.S. is unlikely to uphold any future agreement.
