GAZA/WEST BANK(The COW News Digital) Israeli military operations have continued to escalate in the occupied territories, resulting in the deaths of two children in the West Bank and the discovery of 51 bodies in Gaza, highlighting ongoing violations of the ceasefire agreement. Airstrikes were reported today in Gaza City, Beit Lahiya, and Khan Younis, accompanied by artillery shelling.
The two children were shot dead by Israeli forces during operations in the West Bank, while numerous others were injured. The military raids involved house-to-house searches, adding to the fear and instability in the region.
The discovery of 51 bodies in a mass grave in Gaza underscores the devastating human cost of the ongoing conflict. Among the recovered remains is a body from Khan Younis, previously held in Israeli custody, which is scheduled to be returned to Gaza today.
A spokesperson for Gaza’s Civil Defense highlighted that dozens of families remain trapped under the rubble of destroyed homes, with many victims yet to be recovered. Rescue teams face severe challenges due to the extensive destruction and limited machinery available, slowing recovery operations.
United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres condemned the repeated violations of the Gaza ceasefire, calling the agreement “fragile” and urging all parties to respect it fully to ensure lasting peace. “Continued hostilities threaten to escalate the humanitarian crisis and undermine efforts for stability,” he said.
The relentless air and artillery strikes, combined with ground operations, have intensified the humanitarian situation in both Gaza and the West Bank. Families continue to suffer from displacement, loss of homes, and limited access to essential services amid ongoing hostilities.
Analysts warn that continued breaches of the ceasefire not only deepen the humanitarian crisis but also complicate diplomatic efforts to restore calm in the region. The international community has called for immediate adherence to the ceasefire terms, protection of civilians, and swift delivery of humanitarian assistance.
As the situation develops, the focus remains on humanitarian rescue efforts, accountability for civilian casualties, and enforcement of international agreements aimed at preventing further loss of life.
