KABUL:( The COW News Digital)-Afghanistan’s Defense Minister Fasihuddin Fitrat has strongly rejected former US President Donald Trump’s warning over the Bagram Airbase, asserting that no deal over Afghan land is possible.

Responding to Trump’s statement, Fitrat said, “Some people are seeking a political deal to reclaim Bagram, but we will never negotiate an inch of Afghan soil.”

Trump recently stated on his Truth Social account that if Afghanistan does not return Bagram Airbase — built and used by the US military after 9/11 — the consequences will be “very bad.” He also hinted that a military operation to retake control of the airbase could not be ruled out.

Bagram served as the main US base in Afghanistan for two decades during the war on terror. The Taliban regained control of the airbase and other facilities in 2021 after the withdrawal of US forces and the collapse of the US-backed Afghan government.

Afghan officials have warned that any attempt to retake Bagram would be considered an act of aggression, requiring deployment of thousands of troops and advanced air defense systems.
