Rawalpindi(The COW News Digital) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has described the sentencing of former DG ISI Faiz Hameed as an internal matter of the relevant institution, urging that the issue should not be politicized. Afridi emphasized that Faiz Hameed was an employee of a state organization, and any disciplinary action taken against him should be considered within the framework of legal and institutional protocols.
Speaking about his attempts to meet PTI founder Imran Khan at Adiala Jail, Afridi revealed that he was denied entry despite visiting for official discussions. He criticized the restrictions, calling them unconstitutional, and highlighted that Imran Khan has consistently advocated for the strengthening of Pakistan’s institutions.

Afridi stressed the importance of negotiation over confrontation, stating that if decision-makers are willing, they should engage in dialogue. He noted that Imran Khan has delegated negotiation authority to Mahamood Khan Achakzai and Raja Nasir Abbas, and affirmed that the KP government will stand with Achakzai in all decisions.
Addressing recent incidents involving Imran Khan’s family, Afridi alleged that actions against Khan’s sisters were carried out under orders from the Punjab government. He further criticized the ongoing detention of Imran Khan and his wife, describing it as unjust, and stated that individuals with a history of corruption—whom he referred to as “verified thieves”—are currently in power. Afridi vowed that the KP government, once in office, would hold such individuals accountable.
The Chief Minister also highlighted the country’s deteriorating economic situation, saying that the government’s performance has been ineffective, pushing many young Pakistanis to consider leaving the country in search of better opportunities. Afridi condemned the lack of progress and called for urgent reforms to address economic instability and governance issues.
Regarding Faiz Hameed, Afridi clarified that while his sentencing is a matter of the institution, other pending cases dating back to May 9 and associated facilitators will also face legal scrutiny. His remarks underscore ongoing tensions between Pakistan’s political leadership and the state’s institutional framework, reflecting the broader challenges facing governance, justice, and accountability in the country.
