PESHAWAR ( The COW News Digital) In a historic development for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police, Ayesha Gul has officially taken charge as the province’s first-ever female Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Investigation. Her appointment marks a significant step toward gender representation in law enforcement, particularly in one of Pakistan’s most challenging policing regions.
Upon assuming her duties in Peshawar, SSP Ayesha Gul pledged that delivering timely justice to the people would remain her top priority. She highlighted that her leadership will focus on ensuring transparency, merit, and professionalism in the investigative process, areas that have often been under scrutiny in the province’s justice system.
Speaking to the media, she stressed that every case will be investigated impartially and promptly, ensuring that criminals face the full force of the law. “Delays in justice will not be tolerated. People’s faith in the system depends on timely and fair investigations,” she remarked.
Police officials in Peshawar welcomed her appointment, expressing confidence that her experience and commitment would bring much-needed reforms to the investigation wing. Colleagues noted that her leadership could serve as an inspiration for more women to join the police force and pursue higher ranks in a male-dominated institution.
SSP Gul also highlighted her plans to introduce capacity-building programs for investigation officers, including modern training methods and forensic support, to strengthen case outcomes. She emphasized the importance of victim-centered investigations, particularly in cases involving women and children, where sensitivity and professionalism are crucial.
Her appointment has been hailed as a progressive milestone, not only for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa but also for Pakistan’s broader efforts to empower women in public service. Civil society groups and women’s rights activists praised the move, noting that female leadership in law enforcement can help address community issues with greater empathy and inclusiveness.
Observers believe SSP Gul’s tenure could set an example of reform and modernization within the police system. By prioritizing fairness and efficiency, her leadership has the potential to restore public trust in investigations and contribute to a more accountable justice system in the province
