Islamabad(The COW News Digital)Field Marshal Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, has declared that Pakistan confronts its adversaries openly and decisively, asserting that “we do not strike from the shadows; we defeat the enemy with courage.” He made these remarks while addressing the National Ulema and Mashaikh Conference in Islamabad, where he spoke at length about national unity, security challenges and the country’s moral foundations.

Munir described India as a source of terrorism in the region, accusing it of destabilizing Pakistan through covert and overt hostilities. He emphasized that Pakistan’s response to aggression has always been marked by clarity and firmness. The field marshal highlighted that Allah has bestowed upon Pakistan the honor of being among the protectors of the Haramain Sharifain, a responsibility he said carries immense spiritual and moral weight. He reminded the audience that nations abandoning knowledge, scholarship and intellectual growth eventually fall into disorder and conflict.

He stressed that dignity and strength are not achieved through division but through hard work, discipline and education. Munir reiterated that terrorism is characteristic of India, not Pakistan, and that no individual or group outside the state can declare jihad in an Islamic system.

Calling for unity, he urged religious scholars to keep the nation cohesive and broaden public understanding during challenging times. He said that success in the struggle between truth and falsehood comes only through divine support and collective effort.

Earlier in the conference, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif addressed the gathering and emphasized the urgent need to eliminate sectarianism. He said that while the government is pushing for economic revival, terrorism continues to obstruct progress. The prime minister voiced concern over frequent attacks carried out by militants crossing from Afghanistan, which have claimed numerous civilian and security personnel lives.

Sharif said the persistent instability in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where innocent citizens are targeted by extremist factions, is hindering Pakistan’s path to development. He urged the nation to understand that neither magic nor shortcuts can bring prosperity—only tireless work, collective responsibility and national cohesion can move the country forward.

Both leaders underscored that Pakistan’s future depends on unity, discipline and a firm stance against terrorism, urging all segments of society to rise above divisions for the nation’s stability.
