National ( The cow news digital ) At least eight members of the same family were killed after a gas pipeline explosion triggered a massive fire in the Hattar Industrial Estate area of Haripur, authorities confirmed on Friday. Several others were injured in the incident, which caused panic and emergency response operations across the industrial zone.
According to District Police Officer Haripur Shafiullah Gandapur, the fire erupted after a gas pipeline reportedly burst in the industrial area, leading to a sudden blaze that quickly spread. Emergency services were immediately called to the scene as firefighters from multiple districts joined the rescue operation to control the fire.
Officials stated that a total of eight people lost their lives in the incident, while eight others sustained injuries. All of the victims, both deceased and injured, belonged to the same family, making the tragedy particularly devastating for the local community.
Rescue teams, supported by police personnel, worked together to evacuate the area and transport the victims to nearby medical facilities. According to the police, five bodies were shifted to Kot Najibullah Hospital, while three were taken to the Trauma Centre for further procedures and identification.
Authorities said that the fire was intense due to the gas leakage, which made firefighting efforts difficult in the early stages. Fire brigades from at least five districts participated in controlling the blaze, eventually bringing the situation under control after coordinated efforts.
Police and rescue officials have launched an investigation into the cause of the pipeline explosion. Preliminary reports suggest that a technical fault or pressure buildup may have contributed to the rupture, though officials have not confirmed the exact reason yet.
The Hattar Industrial Estate, one of the major industrial zones in the region, remained partially affected as emergency operations continued for several hours. Authorities have cordoned off the area to ensure safety and to allow investigators to assess the damage.
