Islamabad ( The COW News Digital) Pakistan’s Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif has welcomed the outcome of the recent high-level meeting between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, and U.S. President Donald Trump, calling it a major diplomatic success for Pakistan.

In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter), Khawaja Asif said that Pakistan’s diplomatic, defense, and global position is growing stronger with every passing month. He linked the meeting to a series of recent strategic achievements for Pakistan, including what he called a “victory over India,” the historic defense agreement with Saudi Arabia, and unprecedented progress in Pakistan-U.S. relations.

“Alhamdulillah, 2025 has been a year full of successes, and the partnership of the hybrid system is moving forward successfully,” Asif wrote, referring to the country’s civil-military decision-making framework.

The comments come a day after Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with President Trump at the White House Oval Office for a 1 hour 20 minute session focused on bilateral relations, regional stability, and defense cooperation. The meeting was attended by Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance, and Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

While no detailed statement on the discussions has been made public, government sources indicate that talks covered security collaboration, economic cooperation, and the regional situation, including Afghanistan and South Asia.

The tone of the meeting was described as cordial and forward-looking. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was presented with a model of the White House as a symbolic gift of goodwill, and President Trump signaled satisfaction by giving a thumbs-up after the meeting, according to reporters present.

Political observers note that this engagement marks the first official bilateral meeting between Shehbaz Sharif and Donald Trump and comes at a time when Pakistan is seeking to strengthen international alliances amidst changing geopolitical dynamics.

Khawaja Asif’s remarks highlight the government’s confidence that Pakistan’s recent diplomatic outreach — from Riyadh to Washington — is yielding tangible results. His statement also signals the administration’s intention to build on these successes as the country faces economic recovery challenges and evolving security concerns.
