LAHORE: Police in Lahore have solved the mystery behind a reported robbery worth Rs180 million in the Kahna area, revealing that the complainant himself allegedly masterminded the entire incident.
According to police officials, the shocking development came after investigators uncovered inconsistencies in the statements provided by the property dealer who had initially reported the robbery. Further inquiry and technical investigation reportedly exposed the alleged plot, leading to the arrest of three suspects, including the central accused.
Authorities said the suspect, a local property dealer, staged the robbery in an attempt to recover financial losses he had suffered in his business dealings. Police officials stated that the accused carefully planned the fake robbery and involved employees from his office in carrying out the operation.
Investigators revealed that the main suspect had allegedly provided house keys to his employees to help execute the planned theft without raising suspicion. The suspects reportedly entered the house and removed cash, gold, and other valuables to make the incident appear genuine.
Police teams later recovered stolen gold ornaments, cash, and other valuables during raids conducted after the arrests. Officials confirmed that all recovered items had been taken into custody as evidence while further investigations continue.
According to law enforcement authorities, the case initially appeared to be a high-profile robbery involving a massive amount of money. However, investigators became suspicious after reviewing surveillance footage, witness accounts, and the sequence of events shared by the complainant.
Police officials praised the investigation team for exposing the alleged fraud and preventing what they described as an attempt to mislead law enforcement agencies. Authorities added that legal proceedings against the arrested suspects have already begun.
The incident has drawn significant public attention due to the unusually high amount involved and the surprising revelation that the person who informed police about the robbery was allegedly behind the entire scheme.
Law enforcement officials have urged citizens to avoid filing false reports or staging criminal incidents, warning that such actions not only waste police resources but also carry serious legal consequences.
