World ( The cow news digital ) Thailand’s Princess Bajrakitiyabha Mahidol, the eldest daughter of King Maha Vajiralongkorn, has passed away at the age of 47, the Thai Royal Household confirmed on Thursday.
The royal palace announced her death after she had remained in a coma for nearly four years following a sudden medical emergency in late 2022. She had been receiving intensive treatment for severe cardiac complications and other related health issues since then.
According to official statements, her condition deteriorated further in recent weeks due to multiple infections and organ complications, which ultimately led to her death.
Princess Bajrakitiyabha was widely respected in Thailand for her contributions in the fields of law, diplomacy, and social development. Educated in law at leading international institutions, she had previously served in senior legal and diplomatic roles representing Thailand abroad.
She was also known for her advocacy of prisoners’ rights, particularly focusing on improving conditions for female inmates. Her work in legal reform and social justice earned her recognition both within Thailand and internationally.
The Royal Household stated that funeral arrangements will be conducted with full royal honors in accordance with Thai tradition. Her body will be placed at the Grand Palace, where members of the public will be allowed to pay their respects.
Her passing marks a significant moment for the Thai royal family, as she was seen as an important figure in public service and a potential future leader within royal administrative and legal institutions.
