.At the United Nations Security Council, Pakistan described U.S. President Donald Trump’s Gaza initiative as a rare opportunity for peace in the Middle East. Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Munir Akram, stressed that despite the worsening situation in Gaza, new diplomatic avenues are opening for a negotiated settlement.

He warned that Israel’s “E1 settlement project” represents a direct assault on the two-state solution, aiming to cut off East Jerusalem from Palestine and undermine the territorial integrity of the West Bank. According to Pakistan, such moves are clear violations of international law.

The envoy reaffirmed that the two-state solution — based on pre-1967 borders and with East Jerusalem as the capital of Palestine — is the only viable path forward. He called on the UN Security Council to fulfill its responsibility by passing a resolution declaring Israeli settlements illegal, halting their expansion, and ensuring the protection of civilians.

Pakistan reiterated its solidarity with the Palestinian people, affirming its commitment to justice, dignity, and lasting peace in the region.
