Washington: Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States has stressed the need for advanced weaponry and modern defense systems to strengthen the country’s ongoing anti-terror operations. Speaking at a policy forum, the envoy said that militant networks have evolved in both capability and strategy, requiring Pakistan to upgrade its counterterror arsenal to effectively neutralize threats.
He emphasized that Pakistan has been on the frontlines of the war against terrorism, sacrificing thousands of lives, and continues to dismantle networks that threaten regional and global security. The envoy urged the international community, particularly the United States, to support Pakistan with sophisticated arms, surveillance technology, and intelligence-sharing mechanisms.
Highlighting recent security trends, he noted that militant groups are increasingly using advanced equipment, cross-border sanctuaries, and digital platforms, which makes conventional responses insufficient.
Officials in Washington acknowledged Pakistan’s role in stabilizing the region, while analysts say enhanced defense cooperation could strengthen joint efforts against extremist organizations.
