ISLAMABAD (The COW News Digital): An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Islamabad has ordered authorities to produce Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan at the next hearing of a case related to an alleged attack on the judicial complex.
The court directed that the former prime minister be presented before the court either physically or through a video link, according to the proceedings held on Monday.
Judge Tahir Abbas Supra issued the direction while hearing the case registered against Imran Khan and other PTI leaders in connection with the judicial complex incident.
The court also took action against several senior PTI figures who have been declared proclaimed offenders in the case. Former federal ministers Farrukh Habib, Hammad Azhar, Murad Saeed and Shibli Faraz were declared proclaimed offenders, while authorities were directed to provide details of their properties.
The court’s order comes as legal proceedings against several PTI leaders continue in connection with cases registered following political unrest and protests.
In addition to declaring the four former federal ministers proclaimed offenders, the court also issued non-bailable arrest warrants for former Punjab Assembly Deputy Speaker Wasiq Qayyum and PTI Member of the Provincial Assembly Hassan Khan Niazi.
The court sought information about the assets and properties associated with the leaders declared proclaimed offenders as part of the ongoing legal proceedings.
The case was registered at Ramna Police Station in Islamabad and involves allegations linked to the incident at the judicial complex. PTI leaders have faced multiple legal proceedings in connection with protests and clashes involving party supporters and law enforcement agencies.
During Monday’s hearing, the court directed that Imran Khan’s appearance be ensured at the next hearing. The option of producing him through video link was also kept open, allowing authorities to comply with the court’s direction without necessarily bringing him physically to the courtroom.
The proceedings are taking place amid heightened political tensions surrounding PTI and its leadership. Imran Khan, who remains in custody in connection with several legal cases, continues to be at the center of political and legal developments involving the party.
The court subsequently adjourned further proceedings until November 5.
The latest order adds to a series of legal developments involving senior PTI figures. The declaration of several leaders as proclaimed offenders and the issuance of arrest warrants against others indicate that the court proceedings are continuing against multiple accused individuals.
The authorities are now expected to submit the requested property details and take steps to ensure compliance with the court’s directions regarding the appearance of the accused.
The next hearing on November 5 is expected to provide further developments in the judicial complex case, including the court’s consideration of the status of the accused and compliance with its previous orders.
The proceedings remain significant for PTI as several of its senior leaders continue to face legal cases stemming from political protests and unrest in Islamabad.
