DI Khan (The COW News Digital) Five people, including a police official and two Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) employees, were killed in separate firing incidents in Dera Ismail Khan on Tuesday, while three police personnel were injured, according to police officials.
The incidents took place at different locations in the city, where unidentified armed motorcyclists reportedly opened fire before fleeing the scene. Police have launched investigations into the attacks and are collecting evidence to determine the motive and identify those responsible.
According to the Station House Officer (SHO), the first incident occurred within the jurisdiction of University Town Police Station. Armed men riding motorcycles allegedly opened fire at a location in the area, resulting in the deaths of four people.
Police said two of the deceased were employees of the Federal Board of Revenue, while two civilians were also among those targeted. The victims sustained critical bullet wounds and died as a result of the attack.
Following the firing, police teams reached the area and began collecting evidence. The bodies were shifted for legal and medical procedures, while investigators started examining the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The second attack was reported on the highway near Gulistan Chowk in Dera Ismail Khan. According to police, unidentified motorcycle riders targeted a police mobile while personnel were on duty.
The attack left one police officer dead and two others injured. The injured personnel were shifted for medical treatment, while police teams secured the area and began an investigation.
The latest incidents have raised concerns over the security situation in Dera Ismail Khan, where attacks targeting law-enforcement personnel and other individuals have occurred in the past.
Police officials said investigations into both incidents are underway. Authorities are examining available evidence and other leads in an effort to trace the attackers and establish whether the separate firing incidents were connected.
