PESHAWAR(The COW News Digital) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has warned that he would order the arrest of Chief Minister Sohail Afridi if Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) activists storm the Governor House, describing such an action as illegal.
Faisal Karim Kund ruled out the possibility of further talks with PTI and warned the party against taking any unlawful action against the Governor House.
The governor said that if PTI attempted to storm the Governor House, he would order the arrest of Chief Minister Sohail Afridi over the alleged illegal move.
Kundi also revealed that discussions had taken place regarding the possible imposition of governor’s rule, the declaration of an emergency, or the use of both options in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to the governor, the matter had been discussed, but no final decision had been announced. He said the final decisions would be made during a cabinet meeting.
His remarks signal a potential escalation in tensions between the provincial leadership and PTI, which governs Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The possibility of governor’s rule or an emergency would mark a significant political development for the province. However, Kundi did not announce any immediate action, making clear that the final course of action would depend on decisions taken at the cabinet level.
The governor’s warning regarding Sohail Afridi’s arrest was conditional and linked specifically to a possible attempt by PTI to storm the Governor House. No arrest order was reported as having been issued at the time of the remarks.
Further developments are expected as the relevant authorities consider the available options and the provincial political situation continues to unfold.
