ISLAMABAD (The COW News Digital) The Islamabad High Court (IHC) declared petitions challenging the solitary confinement of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan and his spouse Bushra Bibi maintainable, directing prison authorities to restore family visitation rights and telephonic contact with their children.
Justice Khadim Hussain Soomro disposed of the petitions filed by Imran Khan’s sister, Aleema Khan, and Bushra Bibi’s daughter, Mubashira Khawar Maneka. The court instructed the Superintendent of Adiala Jail to ensure both individuals are not subjected to solitary confinement and requested a compliance report within 15 days.
The court further directed jail management to facilitate routine family meetings according to prison rules and arrange telephonic conversations between Imran Khan and his sons. However, the IHC clarified that the phone facility may be withdrawn if audio recordings of the conversations are leaked or used for political purposes.
