ISLAMABAD(The COW News Digital) Political activity has intensified in Pakistan as opposition parties prepare for a major protest scheduled for September 27, while efforts are also underway to bring Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the opposition leader together for a meeting amid the country’s ongoing political tensions.

Opposition leaders have decided to make comprehensive preparations for the September 27 protest and step up contacts with political parties across the country. They have also agreed to convene an All Parties Conference (APC) soon to discuss the prevailing political situation and develop a joint strategy for addressing national issues.

A key opposition meeting was held in the Senate under the chairmanship of Mahmood Khan Achakzai at the chamber of Leader of the Opposition Allama Raja Nasir Abbas. PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Khan, Barrister Salman Akram Raja, former National Assembly speaker Asad Qaiser and other opposition figures attended the meeting.

Participants held detailed discussions on preparations for the September 27 protest. Achakzai and Raja Nasir Abbas called on Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders to ensure thorough preparations for the planned demonstration.

The opposition also agreed to contact other political parties and work toward holding an All Parties Conference at the earliest. The proposed conference is expected to focus on the country’s political and economic challenges and explore the possibility of adopting a collective course of action.

Meanwhile, a meeting of the Tehreek-e-Tahafuz-e-Aain, or Movement for the Protection of the Constitution, has been scheduled for September 15. The meeting will review preparations for the proposed APC and discuss the broader political strategy of opposition groups.

Separately, contacts have reportedly begun between the offices of the prime minister and the opposition leader following a letter from the prime minister. Consultations are also underway to arrange a meeting between the two leaders.

Barrister Gohar Ali Khan also met Mahmood Khan Achakzai, with Allama Raja Nasir Abbas participating in the discussion. The meeting focused on the prevailing political situation and PTI’s planned march and protest activities.

In another development, a PTI delegation is expected to meet Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman at his residence at 3pm today.

According to sources, the PTI delegation will invite Maulana Fazlur Rehman to participate in the proposed All Parties Conference. The meeting could provide an important opportunity for opposition groups to discuss political cooperation and their response to the country’s current situation.

The latest developments indicate that political parties are intensifying consultations ahead of September 27, with efforts focused both on street mobilisation and broader political engagement.
