ISLAMABAD (The COW News Digital) The federal government has introduced a new digital system for pension payments, making digital verification mandatory for pensioners at regular intervals under revised rules issued by the Ministry of Finance.
According to the newly issued digital pension guidelines, federal pension payments will now be processed through the digital pension system. Pensioners will be required to complete digital verification through the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) every six months to continue receiving their payments.
The verification process can be completed through the NADRA Pak Identity mobile application or by visiting an authorised NADRA centre, according to the new rules.
The government has also discontinued the previous paper-based verification procedure. Under the revised system, pension payments will be transferred directly into the pensioner’s bank account, reducing the need for traditional documentation and manual verification.
The new framework also changes the previous verification schedule. Pensioners will no longer be required to follow the earlier March and September verification cycle. Banks will also not require pensioners to submit separate biometric verification or life certificates under the new arrangement.
However, pensioners who fail to complete digital verification for six consecutive months may face suspension of their pension payments. The rules clarify that a pension account will not automatically be declared dormant solely because verification has not been completed.
Once the required digital verification is successfully completed, pension payments can be restored and transferred again to the pensioner’s account.
The Ministry of Finance said the new mechanism is aimed at making pension administration more efficient, transparent and digitally managed. The system is also expected to improve the verification process and help authorities maintain more accurate pension records.
The shift toward digital verification marks a significant change in the government’s approach to pension management, replacing several conventional procedures with an electronic system.
Pensioners will therefore need to ensure that their digital verification remains up to date to avoid any interruption in the transfer of their pension.
The implementation of the new rules is expected to streamline pension disbursement while reducing paperwork and reliance on manual verification procedures.
