Islamabad (The COW News Digital) Islamabad Police have requested 16,000 personnel from Punjab ahead of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) long march planned for September 27, according to police sources.
Sources said Islamabad Police have also requested 2,000 personnel from Sindh to strengthen security arrangements in the federal capital ahead of the anticipated protest.
The police have reportedly sought the deployment of senior officers from both provinces, including three deputy inspector generals (DIGs), seven senior superintendents of police (SSPs) and 18 superintendents of police (SPs).
According to police sources, Islamabad Police have requested Rs827 million to manage security arrangements for the march. More than 2,000 containers have reportedly been moved to key locations in Islamabad and Attock as part of preparations.
Sources further said that nearly 30,000 security personnel are expected to be deployed in Attock in view of the planned political activity.
The reported security plan comes as authorities prepare for the possibility of a large number of PTI supporters entering Islamabad. Police sources said the security strategy includes making arrests, rather than relying solely on dispersing protesters.
The PTI has announced a long march for September 27 as part of its political campaign. PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Khan has said the march will take place and will remain peaceful.
The reported deployment and financial requirements reflect the scale of preparations being made by law-enforcement authorities ahead of the proposed march. However, the figures regarding personnel, funds and deployment plans have been attributed to police sources and have not been independently confirmed in the information provided.
The September 27 protest is expected to draw significant political attention as the PTI continues its campaign and the authorities prepare security measures across Islamabad and surrounding areas.
