National ( The cow news digital ) A judicial magistrate in Karachi’s South district has sent two accused individuals on a two-day physical remand in a drug trafficking case linked to an alleged gang network.
The hearing was conducted before Judicial Magistrate South Naim Akhtar, where police presented the arrested suspects, identified as Aqib and Ghulam Abbas. Authorities also submitted three sealed packets of narcotics as evidence before the court.
According to police officials, the suspects were arrested by South Zone police during a recent operation. Investigators allege that both individuals were working as riders for an online drug delivery network associated with an individual known as Anmol alias Pinky, who has been declared a fugitive in the case.
During the proceedings, the court inquired about the status of the arrest of the main suspect, Anmol alias Pinky. The investigating officer informed the court that her arrest had not yet been formally included in the case record.
The court directed the police to conduct a criminal record check (CRO) of both accused persons and stated that formal approval must be obtained before adding the fugitive suspect to the case proceedings.
Police had requested a 10-day physical remand for further interrogation and investigation. However, after reviewing the initial evidence and case details, the court granted a two-day physical remand and ordered the suspects to be handed over to police custody.
The court also instructed the investigating officer to present a progress report at the next hearing, detailing developments in the investigation and any further arrests or recoveries.
Authorities stated that the suspects were allegedly involved in the distribution of narcotics through an online delivery system, operating under the supervision of the suspected gang network. The case is being investigated further to trace additional members and determine the full scope of the operation.
Law enforcement agencies have intensified action against drug trafficking networks operating through digital platforms, which have increasingly been used for covert distribution and delivery of illegal substances in urban areas.
Further proceedings in the case are expected to take place after the completion of the remand period, when police will present the suspects again before the court for judicial review.
