MUZAFFARABAD( The COW News Digital) In a major political development in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) have jointly signed a no-confidence motion against AJK Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwarul Haq, signaling a decisive move to oust him from office.

According to political sources, the motion is expected to be formally submitted to the AJK Legislative Assembly later today. The move comes after days of intense negotiations between the two major political parties, both of which have reportedly agreed to cooperate in reshaping the regional government.

Prime Minister Anwarul Haq has expressed conditional willingness to resign, sources close to the matter said. He is reportedly seeking guarantees regarding development funds and the continuation of ongoing projects for his allied ministers and assembly members before stepping down.

Following the submission of the motion, PML-N lawmakers are expected to resign from their ministerial portfolios and take seats on the opposition benches, formalizing the break with the current ruling coalition.

Meanwhile, the PPP has not yet officially announced its nominee for the prime minister’s post. The no-confidence motion reportedly leaves the name of the new leader of the house blank, pending final approval from party leadership. However, insiders say that Chaudhry Yaseen and Chaudhry Latif Akbar are being considered as the strongest candidates for the position.

In a strategic move, former president Asif Ali Zardari has dispatched a special envoy carrying a sealed letter containing the name of the next prime ministerial nominee. The envoy is expected to arrive in Muzaffarabad today. According to parliamentary procedure, the name of the proposed new leader must be included in the no-confidence document before submission.

Political analysts view the development as a significant shift in AJK’s political landscape, potentially reshaping alliances and altering the balance of power in the region. The coming days are expected to bring intense political maneuvering, as both the PPP and PML-N seek to consolidate their positions ahead of the assembly vote.

If successful, the no-confidence motion would mark yet another change in AJK’s leadership within a short span, reflecting the continued volatility of the territory’s political scene.
