National ( The cow news digital ) The Islamabad High Court has made progress in a petition seeking permission for meetings with Bushra Bibi and access to her personal physician.

According to reports, objections raised earlier by the registrar’s office on the petition filed by her daughter, Mubashra, have been removed. The court has directed that the petition be formally registered and scheduled for hearing on Monday.

During the preliminary proceedings, legal representatives including Salman Akram Raja, Ali Bukhari, Naeem Panjutha, and Khalid Yousuf appeared before the bench.

Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir observed that in such matters, it is generally required to approach the relevant authority first. He advised that if prison authorities had not yet been formally approached, the petitioner should do so promptly.

The court also inquired whether meetings had previously been facilitated. In response, counsel informed the bench that meetings with Bushra Bibi had been inconsistent, sometimes allowed and at other times restricted. It was further stated that family visits have now been completely halted.

The petitioner’s counsel argued that as a daughter, Mubashra has the right to meet her mother and that such access should not be denied. He also highlighted concerns regarding Bushra Bibi’s health, noting that she has undergone surgery and requires medical attention, thereby urging the court to treat the matter as urgent.

Justice Tahir remarked that since it was the last working day, the objections had been cleared, and the case would be taken up on the next working day. The hearing has been adjourned until Monday, when the court is expected to proceed further with the matter.

The case has drawn attention due to its legal and humanitarian aspects, particularly concerning family access and medical care for detainees.
