National ( The cow news digital ) Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman criticized discussions around creating new provinces, calling them attempts to divert public attention from pressing national issues.
Addressing a press conference in Quetta, the JUI-F chief stated that while creating new provinces is not inherently negative, the nation must consider its economic and structural capacity. Referring to recent comments by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Fazlur Rehman remarked that Naqvi could not have made such statements without consulting the Prime Minister, adding lightheartedly that Naqvi had “matured too quickly.”
Call for Joint Opposition Strategy
Fazlur Rehman urged opposition leader Mahmood Khan Achakzai to convene a joint opposition meeting to evaluate the political landscape, warning that JUI-F would organize a national conference independently if Achakzai failed to do so.
- Democracy & Governance: He argued that form-fitted governments weaken parliament and undermine democratic principles, stressing the need for governance aligned strictly with the Constitution.
- National Policy Deficit: The JUI-F chief highlighted widespread public anxiety over deteriorating security and economic conditions, calling for an equitable, unified national policy rather than force.
- Political Position: He reiterated JUI-F’s decision to stay out of the Balochistan provincial government and maintained that JUI-F remains a major grassroots political force.
Fazlur Rehman concluded by affirming that his party would oppose any attempts to alter the constitutional structure of the country.
