Fazl Ur Rehman Urges Action Committee to Delay Steps

National ( The cow news digital ) Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has appealed to the banned Awami Action Committee to avoid taking any further action for the time being and allow a few more days for possible progress through dialogue.

In a message addressed to the committee, Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that the group has been holding a sit-in in Rawalakot and surrounding areas for the past month over its demands. He noted that the committee has been seeking the acceptance of its demands from the government.

The JUI chief said that some unpleasant incidents occurred during the protest, which created tensions and increased bitterness in the atmosphere. He added that the issue of the sit-in and the committee’s demands was also discussed in Parliament.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman said the Awami Action Committee had requested him to play a role as a mediator, and he expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him. He added that Maulana Saeed Yousuf Khan of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Rawalakot tribal figure Kamran Azam Khan remained in contact with him during the process.

He said he avoided announcing further steps after holding discussions with both the government and the committee. Maulana Fazlur Rehman also revealed that he had spoken with Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, who is currently in Muzaffarabad.

According to Fazlur Rehman, Bilawal Bhutto briefed him about his own efforts and discussions with the government. He said Bilawal had not yet reached a final conclusion and was continuing his attempts to find a solution.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman stated that Bilawal Bhutto wanted to prevent any violence or unrest and believed that the issue should be resolved through negotiations. He added that Bilawal needed some additional time to continue talks with the government.

The JUI chief once again urged the Awami Action Committee to refrain from any immediate action and provide a few days’ time so that meaningful progress could be achieved.

He said that positive developments would be beneficial not only for Pakistan but also for Kashmir and for strengthening mutual trust between the Kashmiri and Pakistani people.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman expressed hope that the committee would respond positively to his appeal and continue supporting efforts aimed at achieving a peaceful resolution.
