ISLAMABAD: Uzma Khan, sister of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, has filed a fresh application in the Supreme Court requesting an urgent hearing for her contempt of court petition regarding the former prime minister’s hospital transfer.
The move follows the Registrar Office’s earlier rejection of a similar early hearing plea on August 25. According to the petition, Imran Khan’s health inside Central Jail Adiala is rapidly deteriorating, making his medical evaluation a matter of extreme urgency and public interest. The plea asserts that the apex court’s August 18 directions were not executed in their true letter and spirit, as authorities took the former premier to PIMS Hospital instead of shifting him to Shifa International Hospital for comprehensive medical examination and treatment as sought.
The applicant contends that the failure to execute court orders constitutes willful non-compliance and a direct violation of constitutional guarantees. The plea argues that case fixation policies should not obstruct the immediate hearing of a contempt application when an individual’s health and life are involved. It further requests the Supreme Court to review its decision scheduling the matter for September 16 and fix the hearing for the current or upcoming week to ensure immediate compliance.
With legal representatives pressing for swift judicial intervention, the Supreme Court is expected to review the fresh filing to determine whether an expedited hearing will be granted ahead of the scheduled September date.
