National ( The cow news digital ) A police officer injured while bravely confronting terrorists in Lower Dir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has appealed directly to Chief Minister Sohail Afridi for advanced weaponry, urging parity with the equipment used by militant groups.
In a video circulating on social media, the injured constable called on the provincial leadership to equip frontline forces with modern capabilities to effectively counter evolving security threats.
KP Government Outlines Resource Allocation
Responding to the viral video, KP Government Spokesperson Shafi Jan stated that the procurement and distribution of advanced weapons, technology, and equipment to law enforcement agencies remain actively underway.
“The provincial police budget has been increased to Rs 191 billion for the current fiscal year. Billions have been allocated for thermal cameras, anti-drone systems, bulletproof vehicles, and Safe City projects,” Jan confirmed.
Jan added that over the past six months, anti-drone technology successfully neutralized hundreds of hostile drone attempts. Additionally, the KP Police established its first-ever Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) Division to enhance surveillance.
DPO Highlights Regional Upgrades
District Police Officer (DPO) Lower Dir, Talal Ahmad, acknowledged that while evolving terrorist tactics require continuous hardware upgrades, local forces have received substantial support from higher authorities.
Ahmad noted that Lower Dir Police have already been provided with quadcopters, anti-drone systems, heavy weaponry, thermal scopes, ballistic helmets, and thermal binoculars. He emphasized that these modern tools have significantly boosted timely tracking and operational successes against militant threats.
