KARACHI — Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Minister Shafi Jan questioned the federal government’s objections to the Supreme Court’s order regarding the medical transfer of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, calling the ruling a merit-based decision by an independent judiciary.

Speaking on a current affairs television program, Jan noted that the judicial directive was based entirely on an independent medical report in which the provincial government had no input. He emphasized that since the ruling was delivered on merit, the government’s plan to challenge it through a review petition lacks justification.

Jan assured that the party and provincial authorities would honor the commitments made to the court regarding security and logistics. Addressing political strategy, the minister confirmed that the call for a nationwide protest on September 27 currently remains intact. He added that party leadership and allies will convene to deliberate on the situational developments and present their future course of action to the public.

The minister’s remarks come after the Supreme Court directed authorities to shift Imran Khan to Shifa International Hospital under strict security until the next hearing. The apex court also ordered the formation of a specialized medical board to oversee his treatment while emphasizing that public order outside the medical facility must be maintained.
