Pakistan is celebrating its 79th Independence Day with traditional zeal and fervor, kicking off the national holiday with a 21-gun salute and special prayers in mosques for the country’s peace, solidarity, and prosperity.
Festivities began right at midnight as cities transformed into seas of green and white, illuminated by brilliant light displays and vibrant fireworks. Major hubs like Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar, Quetta, and Multan witnessed enthusiastic crowds pouring into streets, adorning neighborhoods with the national flag, and participating in colorful rallies. In Lahore, spectacular fireworks lit up Greater Iqbal Park and Liberty Chowk, while Multan’s Ghanta Ghar and Hyderabad’s main squares buzzed with celebratory gatherings.
Marking the occasion, the country’s military leadership—including the Chief of Army Staff, Chief of Defence Forces, Naval Chief, and Air Chief—extended heartfelt felicitations to the nation through the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR). The military reaffirmed its unwavering resolve to safeguard the motherland against all threats, emphasizing that the armed forces stand steadfast alongside the public to protect national security, sovereignty, and regional stability. Special ceremonies, flag-hoisting events, and community programs continue nationwide to honor the sacrifices of the founding fathers.
