ISLAMABAD: Internal rifts within Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) have deepened significantly following a public war of words between Central General Secretary Salman Akram Raja and party leader Meshal Yousafzai.

The controversy erupted after Meshal Yousafzai leveled accusations regarding the selling of party tickets. In a sharp and aggressive counter-response, Salman Akram Raja dismissed the claims, stating that those who cannot even contribute four annas toward legal battles have resorted to cheap allegations. He questioned who originally facilitated Meshal’s appointment to the Senate, emphasizing that the directive came directly from the PTI founder. Raja added that while he possesses the authority to remove her from the party, he chose to exercise leniency and overlook her remarks.

In retaliation, Meshal Yousafzai strongly rejected his stance, claiming that Salman Akram had previously apologized to the PTI founder before resuming his public media attacks. She challenged him to remove her from the party if he truly possessed the authority to do so.

Meanwhile, adding fuel to the fire, PTI worker Shandana Gulzar weighed in on the dispute, asserting that Salman Akram’s remarks regarding financial matters were incorrect. She raised serious questions about the destination of millions of rupees arriving from the United States, warning that if the truth comes to light, it would spell trouble for everyone involved.
