National ( The cow news digital ) Following the conclusion of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly elections, violence erupted in Rawalakot after members of the banned Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) attacked security forces, resulting in the martyrdom of a Rangers soldier and injuring three police officers.
According to police sources, members of the proscribed organization attempted a “Long March” toward Rawalakot. When law enforcement agencies moved to block the unauthorized rally, armed individuals opened fire, initially injuring two police officers.
In a subsequent escalation, rioters launched an attack on a security checkpoint in the outskirts of Rawalakot. Rangers Sepoy Ali Raza embraced martyrdom during the assault.
The violent demonstrators also set fire to two official vehicles belonging to the Rangers and local police. Despite severe provocation, police officials reported that law enforcement personnel demonstrated extreme restraint and professional composure to prevent further escalation.
In an official statement, Rawalakot police declared that the banned JAAC resorted to violence, arson, and direct attacks on state officials and public property in an attempt to sabotage the successful democratic election process.
Authorities emphasized that the writ of the state will be maintained at all costs and those responsible for the attack will be brought to justice. Security forces reaffirmed their commitment to protecting public lives and property while appealing to citizens to ignore rumors and rely solely on verified information.
