Islamabad(The COW News Digital)Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has congratulated Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir on his historic appointment as Pakistan’s first Chief of Defence Forces (CDF). In a statement issued from Islamabad, the Prime Minister praised the appointment as a strategic move aligned with contemporary defense and modern warfare requirements, emphasizing that it would strengthen the country’s national security.
“Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir’s leadership represents a milestone in Pakistan’s military history,” the Prime Minister said. “Under his command, our brave armed forces have successfully defended the nation and delivered resounding victories against adversaries, enhancing Pakistan’s prestige internationally.”

The Prime Minister highlighted that the establishment of the CDF position reflects the evolving structure of Pakistan’s defense apparatus, aiming to integrate the strategic capabilities of the army, air force, and navy under a unified command to ensure rapid and coordinated response in any conflict scenario. He expressed confidence that the CDF role would improve operational readiness and strengthen the nation’s defense posture.
In addition, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif congratulated Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu on the extension of his tenure as Chief of Air Staff for an additional two years. The Prime Minister lauded Sidhu’s professional expertise, noting that the Pakistan Air Force, under his command, had demonstrated exceptional skill and effectiveness during critical operations, neutralizing enemy air threats and safeguarding Pakistan’s aerial sovereignty.
The Prime Minister called for all national institutions to work collectively toward Pakistan’s defense, development, and prosperity. “Our goal is to make the country’s defense capabilities invincible, and coordinated efforts across all state institutions are essential to achieving this,” he said.
Officials noted that the appointment of Field Marshal Munir and the extension of Air Chief Sidhu’s tenure reflect a broader focus on modernizing Pakistan’s military, improving inter-service coordination, and maintaining the country’s strategic edge in the region.
