LAHORE(The COW News Digital) The Punjab government has announced strict measures ahead of Eid-ul-Adha, including a Rs50,000 fine for people found dumping animal waste and remains in streets, neighborhoods, or other prohibited locations.

The decision was approved during a high-level meeting chaired by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz to review sanitation and cleanliness arrangements for the upcoming religious festival. Officials said the move is aimed at ensuring a cleaner environment and preventing public health risks during Eid celebrations.

According to government officials, special vigilance squads have been established across the province to monitor illegal disposal of sacrificial waste and animal remains. These teams will supervise cleanliness operations and take action against violators found dumping waste at unauthorized locations.

The chief minister also directed authorities to launch a comprehensive public awareness campaign to educate citizens about proper waste disposal methods during Eid-ul-Adha. The campaign will encourage people to cooperate with sanitation staff and avoid throwing animal remains in drains, canals, roadsides, or vacant plots.

During the video-link meeting, officials reviewed detailed plans for maintaining cleanliness in urban and rural areas throughout the Eid holidays. Maryam Nawaz instructed local administrations to ensure effective cleaning operations in every city, with special focus on drains, canals, markets, and densely populated neighborhoods.

Authorities were further directed to guarantee sanitation arrangements in private housing societies, railway colonies, and cantonment areas to maintain hygiene standards during the festival period.

The Punjab government also ordered special cleaning operations in 2,687 major commercial markets across the province to manage the expected increase in waste generation during Eid shopping and sacrificial activities.

Officials said additional machinery, waste collection vehicles, and sanitation workers will be deployed to handle the large-scale cleanup operation. Emergency response teams will also remain active throughout the holidays to address complaints related to garbage collection and cleanliness.

The provincial administration has urged citizens to follow official guidelines and cooperate with local authorities to keep cities clean during Eid-ul-Adha. Authorities warned that strict action would be taken against individuals violating sanitation rules or creating environmental hazards through improper disposal of animal waste.
