Islamabad (The COW News Digital) The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has announced that it will boycott the no-confidence motion and the election process for a new Prime Minister in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), declaring complete non-participation in what it called a “manufactured political game.”
The decision was made during a high-level PTI leadership meeting held at the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa House in Islamabad, attended by senior leaders, including former AJK Prime Minister and party representatives. The participants resolved to remain disengaged from the ongoing political maneuvering while continuing their role as public representatives in the AJK Assembly.
Following the meeting, PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja addressed the media, alleging that powerful elements were orchestrating political manipulation in Azad Kashmir. “What’s happening today is not democracy but a controlled experiment. The faces behind this system are the same — the powerful ones who always pull the strings,” he said.
Raja added that the PTI had not been officially registered as a political party in AJK and accused rival parties of attempting to dismantle the people’s mandate. “Our members were torn apart before, declared independent, and a fake system was created. The people of Kashmir stand on one side while the state stands on the other — a gulf of deception now separates them,” he remarked.
He asserted that PTI lawmakers would remain in the Assembly to voice the truth and hold the incoming government accountable. “This is not a political transition; it’s a political play,” Raja said, accusing PML-N and allied parties of engaging in “a power-grabbing game” rather than serving the people.
Former AJK Prime Minister Qayyum Niazi echoed similar concerns, claiming that a “hybrid system” had been imposed in the region. “After Prime Minister Anwarul Haq’s failure, attempts are being made to reinstall the same failed setup. We reject this process completely,” he stated, demanding an independent election commission to conduct transparent polls.
PTI leader Khawaja Farooq Ahmed reaffirmed the party’s loyalty to Pakistan, despite political differences with the federal government. “Our hearts beat for the state of Pakistan. In the coming elections, PTI will repeat the performance of 2021,” he said, urging the formation of a neutral election body to ensure fair elections.
Raja concluded by saying that Imran Khan remains in the hearts of the people, and replacing one face with another “does not constitute real change.”
