LAHORE:( The COW News Digital)-Flour prices in Sindh have surged sharply as the impact of floods in Punjab disrupts wheat supply chains, the TCND channel reported on Sunday.

According to the report, the city of Obauro is among the worst-hit, with the cost of a 40-kilogram bag of flour now reaching as high as Rs4,400.

Only ten days ago, residents of Obauro were purchasing flour at Rs. 80 per kilogram. Today, that price has skyrocketed to Rs110 per kilogram, causing concern among local citizens already grappling with inflation.

Locals recall that a 40-kg sack of flour was available for Rs. 2,800 just days ago. The jump to Rs4,400 marks a steep and sudden increase, creating panic in local markets.

Citizens warn that if wheat prices are not brought under control soon, an artificial flour crisis could emerge, worsening the situation further and potentially leading to hoarding or black-market practices.

The continued disruption in the wheat supply chain due to flooding in Punjab is feared to have a ripple effect across other parts of Sindh if timely measures are not taken by the government and food supply authorities.
