Karachi, Pakistan (The COW News Digital) Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has taken notice of extortion notices being sent to traders, industrialists, and property dealers in Karachi, directing the police to take immediate action. The development comes after a delegation from the Association of Builders and Developers (ABAD) met with the Chief Minister to discuss rising incidents of extortion and illegal land grabbing.

According to a statement from the Chief Minister’s House, ABAD Chairman Hasan Bakhshi led the delegation and presented details of the extortion notices, including threatening phone numbers and evidence of the crimes. The delegation revealed that around ten incidents of extortion were reported in the past year, highlighting the persistence of organized criminal activities in the city.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister emphasized that such matters should be reported directly to authorities rather than being highlighted in the media. He assured the delegation that all complaints would be treated seriously, and immediate action would be taken against offenders.

The Sindh Home Minister briefed the CM on the steps already taken by the police, stating that extensive operations had led to the arrest of 50 extortionists and that six criminals were killed in police encounters. ABAD representatives also noted that following a crackdown on illegal land grabbing earlier this year, no new unauthorized occupation of properties had occurred.

CM Murad Ali Shah instructed police officers to expedite investigations and ensure swift action against those involved in extortion and land grabbing. He condemned these criminal activities as intolerable and assured that previous offenders had been neutralized, adding that coordination with the federal government would be undertaken to bring extortionists residing abroad to justice.

The Chief Minister reiterated his commitment to protecting Karachi’s business community and ensuring a safe environment for trade and investment. Authorities have been tasked with monitoring the situation closely, responding promptly to any new threats, and strengthening security measures in vulnerable areas.

ABAD officials praised the Sindh government’s proactive approach and expressed hope that immediate action would discourage future criminal activities. The delegation also called for increased coordination between law enforcement agencies and business associations to safeguard property and commercial interests in the city.

This move reflects the Sindh government’s determination to clamp down on organized extortion networks and secure Karachi’s commercial and real estate sectors, providing reassurance to the city’s traders and investors.
