ISLAMABAD ( The COW News Digital) Good news for Pakistani travelers: Tajikistan is likely to introduce e-visa and visa-on-arrival facilities for citizens of Pakistan, a development that could significantly boost tourism and trade ties between the two nations.

The announcement came after a series of high-level meetings between Prime Minister’s Coordinator for Tourism, Sardar Yasir Ilyas, and senior Tajik officials. During the discussions, Tajikistan assured Pakistan of its readiness to provide simplified visa facilities in the near future, including both e-visa and visa-on-arrival options.

The meetings focused on strengthening bilateral economic, trade, and tourism cooperation. Both sides agreed to work toward expanding opportunities in agriculture, textile, leather, and building material exports. Tajik officials also expressed their commitment to exploring barter trade options for agricultural products, a move that could open new avenues for bilateral commerce.

Sardar Yasir Ilyas described the visit as a reflection of the strong and friendly relations between Pakistan and Tajikistan. “Our goal is to build a sustainable partnership and create mutual business opportunities for both nations,” he stated.

The Pakistani delegation also met with Tajikistan’s Minister of Industry and Technologies, Sherali Kabir, where they emphasized the need for active collaboration between the business communities of both countries. The coordinator invited a Tajik trade delegation to visit Pakistan and explore opportunities in sectors such as textiles, leather, and construction materials. Discussions also touched on potential cooperation in the field of artificial intelligence, signaling an interest in technological collaboration.

In a separate meeting with Tajik Deputy Minister of Transport, Farah Namatzada, the two sides reviewed options for expanding air connectivity between Pakistan and Tajikistan. Enhanced air links are expected to facilitate easier travel, promote tourism, and support bilateral trade initiatives.

Additionally, proposals for organizing joint economic conferences were discussed, aimed at providing a platform for business leaders and investors from both countries to collaborate and exchange ideas.

Analysts believe that the introduction of e-visa and visa-on-arrival facilities will encourage more Pakistani tourists, entrepreneurs, and investors to explore Tajikistan. This could lead to increased people-to-people exchanges, stronger cultural ties, and a positive impact on regional connectivity.

If finalized, this move will mark an important step in deepening Pakistan-Tajikistan relations and boosting economic engagement across multiple sectors.
