UAE Launches ‘Eye’ AI System for Faster Work Permits

Dubai( The COW News Digital)The United Arab Emirates has introduced a groundbreaking new system, known as “Eye”, designed to streamline and accelerate the issuance of work permits and residency visas. The innovative platform utilizes artificial intelligence (AI) to process applications within days — a task that previously took up to a month.

According to UAE labor authorities, the ‘Eye System’ represents a major step toward digital transformation and efficiency in government services. It was specifically developed to simplify the process of issuing employment and labor-related residence permits, while ensuring accuracy and transparency through automated verification.

Officials explained that the AI-driven platform operates without human intervention, verifying all required documents submitted by applicants. Once the data is uploaded, the system automatically examines the passport, photographs, educational certificates, medical reports, employment contracts, and company documents, such as trade licenses, to ensure compliance with legal and procedural requirements.

If all the submitted documents are valid, the system will instantly issue the work permit. However, in cases where discrepancies or irregularities are detected, the file will be automatically flagged and referred to a government officer for manual review.

UAE officials say the introduction of the “Eye” system will significantly reduce processing time, eliminate paperwork errors, and enhance user experience for both employers and employees. The system’s ability to operate autonomously allows it to handle a large number of applications efficiently, reducing the burden on administrative staff.

“This is a major leap in how we manage work permits and labor documentation,” said an official from the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation. “By using artificial intelligence, we’re ensuring speed, accuracy, and fairness in the entire process.”

Previously, it could take up to 30 days for a work permit to be approved and issued. With the launch of “Eye,” authorities expect the processing period to drop to just a few days, marking a significant improvement in turnaround time for expatriate workers seeking employment in the UAE.

The initiative is part of the UAE’s broader Vision 2031 strategy, which focuses on leveraging AI and automation to modernize governance and strengthen the country’s position as a global hub for innovation, business, and technology.
