China (The COW News Digital)China has firmly stated that the proposed US-led “Board of Peace” cannot replace the United Nations, reaffirming its support for the UN as the central pillar of the global governance system.
Speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos, a Chinese representative said that the United Nations remains indispensable for maintaining international peace and stability. The remarks came in response to US President Donald Trump’s proposal to establish a new international peace framework, which Beijing views as insufficient and potentially disruptive to the existing global order.
The Chinese delegate emphasized that the UN plays a foundational role in the international system and that any attempts to bypass or weaken it could undermine global cooperation. He noted that the world is currently facing serious challenges due to protectionist policies, which are placing globalization under increasing pressure.

Despite global uncertainty, China believes it can offer stability and predictability, the official said. He added that Beijing remains committed to supporting open markets and international cooperation during a period of economic and political volatility.
Separately, a spokesperson for China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated that China is prepared not only to continue its role as a major global manufacturing hub but also to act as a key global market. The spokesperson stressed that addressing international challenges requires a strong multilateral system, with the United Nations at its core.
“Multilateralism is not optional; it is essential,” the spokesperson said, adding that the UN provides the most legitimate and inclusive platform for resolving global disputes and promoting peace.
China also made it clear that it does not seek to compete with any country for global influence. Instead, Beijing says it supports cooperation based on mutual respect and shared responsibility within the UN framework.
The statement comes amid broader international debates over the future of global governance and the effectiveness of existing institutions. As geopolitical tensions continue to rise, China’s position highlights its intent to uphold the UN-led international order and resist alternative structures that could dilute its authority.
Observers note that Beijing’s remarks signal a clear diplomatic message: any global peace initiative must operate within, not outside, the United Nations system.
