Doha (The COW News Digital)FIFA has officially announced the draw for the upcoming 48-team World Cup, dividing the teams into 12 groups. The tournament is set to take place next year across the United States, Canada, and Mexico, marking the first World Cup hosted by three countries.
In Group A, host Mexico will face South Africa, South Korea, and a playoff qualifier from Playoff D. Group B includes host Canada, Qatar, Switzerland, and either Wales or Northern Ireland.
Group C features Brazil, Morocco, Scotland, and Haiti, while Group D has host USA, Australia, Paraguay, and a UEFA Playoff C qualifier. Group E sees Germany, Ecuador, Ivory Coast, and Curacao competing, and Group F includes Netherlands, Japan, Tunisia, and a UEFA Playoff B qualifier.
Group G is made up of Belgium, Iran, Egypt, and New Zealand, while Group H includes Spain, Saudi Arabia, Uruguay, and Cape Verde. Group I features France, Senegal, Norway, and a FIFA Playoff 2 qualifier. Group J consists of defending champions Argentina, Austria, Algeria, and Jordan.
Group K includes Portugal, Uzbekistan, Colombia, and a FIFA Playoff 1 qualifier, while Group L features England, Croatia, Panama, and Ghana.
The official draw ceremony was held in the United States, with former President Donald Trump attending and presenting FIFA’s Peace Award.
