Iran (The COW News Digital)A senior Iranian security official has claimed that several American soldiers have been captured during the ongoing tensions between Iran and the United States, while accusing Washington of concealing the truth about the fate of its troops.
According to Iranian state media, Ali Larijani, secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, said that Iranian forces had taken a number of US soldiers into custody. He alleged that American authorities were portraying the detained soldiers as casualties of war instead of acknowledging that they had been captured.
In a message posted on the social media platform X, Larijani said he had received information confirming that several US troops were currently being held by Iranian forces. He claimed that attempts by US officials to hide the reality would ultimately fail.
“The United States cannot keep the truth hidden from the world for long,” Larijani said in the statement, adding that evidence would eventually emerge regarding the situation.
The Iranian official also warned that attacks on US military bases in the region could continue as part of Tehran’s response to recent developments. He urged countries in the Middle East not to allow their territories to be used by the United States for operations against Iran.

Larijani said that if regional governments failed to prevent such actions, Iran would be forced to respond on its own to stop what he described as aggression against the country.
He further stated that Iran would take all necessary steps to avenge the deaths of its leaders and citizens, while also criticizing the policies of Donald Trump. According to Larijani, the US president would ultimately face consequences for what he described as unjust actions against Iran.
In a separate interview with Iranian state television, Larijani said Washington had initially believed it could carry out an operation in Iran similar to what it had attempted in Venezuela. He argued that US strategists assumed that launching a military strike on Iran would allow them to quickly gain control of the situation.
However, Larijani claimed that those expectations had proven incorrect and that the United States was now facing a far more complicated and difficult situation than anticipated.
US officials have not yet publicly responded to the claims, and independent verification of Iran’s statement regarding captured American soldiers has not been confirmed.
