Islamabad: ( The cow news digital ) Pakistan has confirmed that high-level diplomatic talks between Iran and the United States continued for nearly 24 hours in Islamabad, with Islamabad playing a key mediating role in facilitating dialogue between the two sides.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar said that the negotiations were held in a serious and constructive environment, with Pakistan actively supporting efforts to reduce tensions and promote stability in the region.
Addressing a press briefing after the conclusion of the talks, Ishaq Dar expressed gratitude to both Iran and the United States for accepting Pakistan’s invitation to engage in dialogue. He said that the two countries responded positively to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s appeal for an immediate ceasefire and diplomatic engagement.
He noted that the U.S. delegation was led by Vice President JD Vance, while the Iranian delegation was headed by Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf. Both delegations arrived in Islamabad ahead of the discussions, which continued over an extended period before concluding in the early hours of the morning.
Dar stated that Pakistan, alongside Field Marshal Asim Munir, played a facilitative role in multiple rounds of talks between the two sides. He emphasized that the discussions were detailed, structured, and aimed at narrowing differences between Washington and Tehran.
He added that both delegations acknowledged and appreciated Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts, describing Islamabad’s role as constructive in bringing the parties closer to dialogue.
The deputy prime minister further said that Pakistan remains committed to promoting communication and reducing regional tensions, and will continue to play a role in encouraging dialogue between Iran and the United States in the future.
